Lampeter & District Motor Club member Dale Furniss will make his step up to the world stage this weekend (19th – 21st August) when he makes his World Rally debut in Germany co-driving for Jason Pritchard in a privately entered N16 Subaru Impreza Grp N.

After winning the WAMC Road Rally Championship three times, with three different drivers and adding the Welsh Clubmans Two Wheel Drive, Welsh Clubamns Under 25’s, Welsh Clubmans Class 3 titles to his list of achievements alongside fellow LDMC member Dylan Davies, Dale has established himself as one of the young and upcoming co-drivers in the country. After making his debut at BRC and IRC levels with Pritchard on the Jim Clark Memorial Rally and Ypres, Dale will now make the final step up to the world stage on Rally Germany and compete against the World’s elite rally competitors. The crew will be competing against other crews in the Group N category of the event for near showroom spec four-wheel drive turbo-charged vehicles.

The rally, based in the historic town of Trier which is Germany’s wine producing Mosel region, will see Pritchard and Furniss take in 359km of competitive rallying over the three days. The rally will be the first asphalt round of the 2011 WRC season and precise pacenotes and concentration will be required throughout the recce and rally weekend to take on the challenging vineyard stages and the notorious Baumholder military training area where concrete posts, buried into the ground to prevent tanks from going off the road, lie in wait should any competitor go off course.

The club would like to wish Dale all the best and you can follow Jason and Dales progress over the rally weekend by logging on to www.wrc.com and following the Live results section of the website.
