The Old Forge Garage sponsored Mewla Rally was held on the Sunday of the recent Bank Holiday Weekend over the Epynt Military ranges

The event gave Lampeter & District Motor Club Members their last chance of the year to compete over the ranges and 2 that did were Justin Jones & Nia Wyn Hughes.

The pair are no strangers to the ranges having competed numerous times across the 4 Epynt events in the past. After running car 1 on the recent Barcud Road Rally, Justin's Escort developed some gearbox issues. This was put right by a new gear kit obtained from 3J Driveline. With the new gearbox in place, Justin was on the pace from the off in the always popular road rally class. Having obtained the class lead on fist stage of the day, Jones & Hughes didn't let it go all day eventually winning the class by 42 seconds and finishing 34th o/a. Justin & Nia would like to thank 3J Driveline, West Wales Rally Spares & Melvyn Evans Motor Sport for their support in the lead up to the event.

Seeded 1 car behind Justin & Nia were the other all LDMC crew out on the event, Sean Crowley & Emma Jones. Having recently sold "Pedro", their 205, they were also out in the road rally class in a hired Proton Satria GTI, hired from Dylan Davies. The object of the pair was to have fun with no pressure in the unfamiliar car & class. The pair encountered issues thought the day before finishing 3rd in class & 44th o/a.

Held the weekend before the Mewla was the Breidden Road Rally. Based in Welshpool, this ever popular event attracted a few Lampeter & District Motor Club members onto OS map 125 & 126.

Cadog Davies, the Ciliau Aeron navigator who has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the classes on road rallies during the last few years, answered the call from Reian Lewis Jones to navigate on this event. The crew had thought they had finished 6th o/a before they left the finish venue. But by the time the results went final, they had been excluded by a very dubious not stopping at a give way penalty, with neither crew member knowing where the penalty came from

There was a pair of LDMC co driving members out in 9 & 61 with Dorian Evans co driving for car 9 recording a DNF & Llion Tractor Williams in car 61 finishing 9th in class & 41st o/a.

The only LDMC member out in the driver's seat was Andy DAvies in car 7. He maintained his consistent finishing record by bringing his Subaru home 4th in class & 5th o/a
